Emily Wells is a writer based in Los Angeles.
She is the author of A Matter of Appearance, a memoir that binds an account of autoimmune disease to 19th-century French hysteria and discursive histories of ballet and illness. It has been featured or reviewed by The New Yorker, The New Republic, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Literary Hub, and others.
Emily has an MFA in fiction from UC Riverside and teaches writing at UC Irvine. She is at work on a novel.
Formerly, she has been an editor of fashion and art magazines and a newspaper reporter.
